Shopping for skates.

I went out and bought some ice skates. I promised the kids that we’d go skating again this weekend since they loved it so much last weekend. They put skates on their list for Santa. The sporting goods store I went to had and unbelievable price on figure skates so I picked up a pair for my daughter. Unfortunately they did not have any for boys, all they offered were double blades in size 12 and 13 and then jumped to men’s sizes. An employee at the store called the other store that was about 30 minutes away and asked if they had a pair, the employee told me they were holding them a the front counter for 24 hours. I get to the other location, really pressed for time as I have chili in the crock pot at home, expecting my kids to be dropped off at any time and I left my cell phone at home! There was nothing at the front counter for me and no one admitted to taking the call. An employee takes me back to the skate section and there are NO boy’s figure skates, just like the store I was just at! I was fuming mad! He asked me “Are you sure you want to get him figure skates? When I was a kid, I asked my mom for skates and she got me figure skates but I wanted hockey skates” Yes, my son wants figure skates! No one was apologetic and I’m writing letters to managers!

My Birthday

My birthday was last Thursday and it was very nice. I took Thursday and Friday off from work and didn’t do too much of anything. Hubby went off to work and the kids off to school and I got to do whatever I wanted! I went to the mall and did some window shopping, I’m very good at that since I never want to spend any money!

Mom made me a dinner I requested and brought it over my house, along with a birthday cake. Dad gave me cash so I could go buy whatever I wanted, with one stipulation “You are to spend this on you, not the kids, not the bills”

Sunday my daughter and I went out to SHOP! I have to admit it was really hard to not buy stuff for other people. Erin is such a trooper, she hung out with me all day and did not complain once while I couldn’t make up my mind on anything. On the ride home I said to her “I feel guilty that we’re going home and I didn’t buy anything for you or your brother” She responds with “It’s ok mom, it’s YOUR birthday”.

A few minutes to vent.

About two weeks ago, the kids and I visited a Halloween store in the town I work and we shopped around for costumes. The kids tried some on but we didn’t make any purchases that night because they wanted to think about it. My daughter decided on the costume she wanted, so Saturday we went to head back to buy it. Instead of going to the same store, we went on their website to find other locations and there was one about the same distance away, in Springfield, MA and another one in Wethersfield, CT which we went to last year. We hadn’t been to Springfield area in awhile so we took the ride.

We arrived at the Mall, went inside and walked the entire length to find that the store was not in the mall as the website had told us. We thought that maybe it was in the neighboring shopping plazas; we drove around and did not find it. We tried the mall again, thinking maybe it was on the outside of the mall. I saw a security guard driving around in his little white pick-up, I flagged him down and asked, “I’m looking for the Spirit Halloween store, do you know where it is?” He replies, “I’m sorry ma’am, they’re not here this year.” “WHAT?!?!” At this point, we have wasted about 2 hours, I wasn’t very happy but I wasn’t angry…. yet!

We get back on the highway and headed towards Wethersfield, a good 40 min. ride. Get off at our exit, pull into the plaza and the store is EMPTY!! Now, I’m angry!! We ended up going back to the original store to make our purchase. I really wish I didn’t have to buy anything from them but we had looked at the other party stores along the way and didn’t find what we had been looking for. We wasted our entire afternoon and a few galloons of gas looking for stores that didn’t exist thanks to their poorly updated website.

This afternoon they’re getting an angry email from a disgruntled customer.
