A Day At The Beach

I took the day off from work yesterday to bring the kids to the beach, all week I was hoping for good weather and I got it.  It ended up being a perfect day for the beach.  The plan was for both kids to have a friend come along but Adam’s little friend had gotten sick a few times in the middle of the night so he had to cancel.  We still had a great time.  We were one of the first families to arrive so we had our choice of spots, we left at 2:00 and there wasn’t a spot left to be had.  Everyone was exhausted, I had 3 sleepy-heads driving home, five and a half hours at the beach takes a lot out of you.  Came home and rested up to hit the fireworks later at night.

Here’s a few photos before the crowds arrived at Rocky Neck, East Lyme, CT:

How Important Is RAM?

How important is RAM (Rapid Access Memory)? Apparently, it is pretty important. I just recently purchased a new desktop computer and had to be sure I was getting what I needed so I did a little research. Every time you start your computer, use a program or open a file, it’s loaded into RAM. It’s always listed in software requirements, to be sure you have enough memory to install and run the software. The more RAM you have the more files, programs you can use at once or load bigger files onto your system.

My Son The Strong Man?

muscle adam

My son The Strong Man?  Nope, I don’t think so.  Last night, my son challenged me to an arm wrestle.  It was a little difficult to get into position since his forearm is about half the size of mine.  I held my arm real stiff, not trying to take him down and that little bugger tried with all his might to no avail.  The next try I let him use both arms, no such luck until I let him win.  I’m sure after a few more years of muscle growth he’ll give me a run for my money.

They’re Finally Coming Home!

The kids are on their way home today, I can’t wait to see them! When an event is 2 weeks away, it seems to come up so fast. When your children are gone for 2 weeks, it seems like an eternity. I didn’t do much of anything while they were gone, there really wasn’t much for me to do. I did clean the house and it was nice to not have to clean up after everyone. I cleaned the kids rooms just a couple days after they left and their doors have been shut since.

I have a special lunch planned for them, hoping they arrive by lunchtime. It’s a 10 hour ride, if they left at 2 am like planned then I should expect them somewhere around Noon. The rest of the day will be up in the air, I’m feeling quite generous so I’ll probably do whatever they wish. I’ve planned a day off this coming week so I can surprise them and spend the day with them at the beach. It’ll be our first trip this season and finally somewhere I can play around with my camera some more and try to get some good shots.

It’s Michael Appreciation Day

Michael is my boss. Michael is on vacation. Every year we have a “Michael Appreciation Party” in his honor. The office pays for lunch and we all appreciate Michael being gone.

A snippet from an interoffice email:

Lunch will be delivered today at 12:30. This is an opportunity for anyone to share with the group their fondest moments with Michael. :)

One response:

Ok I will get the ball rolling by observing that it should be a short lunch with little to discuss.

Last year a contest was held, we had to write an essay on why we missed him.  The essays were read to him when he returned from vacation.  It was great!  No contest this year but I’m sure there will be a lot to laugh at of nice things said about Michael.

I miss everything!

I wasn’t feeling well on Friday and went home early.  I missed the big excitement on interstate 291, the highway I usually travel to get home.  Apparently there was a man walking along the highway wearing a thong, a wig and fake breasts.  They caught up with the man on Saturday, fully clothed, collecting cans behind a local business.  Now that would’ve been an awesome picture for Wordless Wednesday.

A Makeover Contest

I just entered a Makeover contest for women over the age of 35. The contest is at Myfillosophy.com and it’s for women who have transformed their lives and the prize is a $10,000 makeover! That’s a lot of money for a makeover! Give me a couple hundred dollars to go shopping and I’m a happy girl. What would you do if you won a $10,000 makeover? As I get nearer to 40 I’m finding a few more wrinkles than I once had. The makeover includes a consultation and Artefill treatment from a leading physician, along with other aesthetic treatments and products. After you’ve beautified your face and look years younger, you’ll have your hair styled and make-up professionally done, plus a wardrobe styling for your very own professional photo shoot.

The makeover contest is easy to enter, there is no purchase necessary. The contest is running now until12:00 AM EST on July 31, 2008. Entering the contest is easy. All you need to do is write a personal story of 500 words or less about a current or upcoming life event like marriage, divorce, parenthood, career change, etc. Putting it all into written words really makes you think about where you’re going and where you’ve been.
