Michael is my boss. Michael is on vacation. Every year we have a “Michael Appreciation Party” in his honor. The office pays for lunch and we all appreciate Michael being gone.

A snippet from an interoffice email:

Lunch will be delivered today at 12:30. This is an opportunity for anyone to share with the group their fondest moments with Michael.

Ok I will get the ball rolling by observing that it should be a short lunch with little to discuss.

Last year a contest was held, we had to write an essay on why we missed him.  The essays were read to him when he returned from vacation.  It was great!  No contest this year but I’m sure there will be a lot to laugh at of nice things said about Michael.

I wasn’t feeling well on Friday and went home early.  I missed the big excitement on interstate 291, the highway I usually travel to get home.  Apparently there was a man walking along the highway wearing a thong, a wig and fake breasts.  They caught up with the man on Saturday, fully clothed, collecting cans behind a local business.  Now that would’ve been an awesome picture for Wordless Wednesday.

I just entered a Makeover contest for women over the age of 35. The contest is at Myfillosophy.com and it’s for women who have transformed their lives and the prize is a $10,000 makeover! That’s a lot of money for a makeover! Give me a couple hundred dollars to go shopping and I’m a happy girl. What would you do if you won a $10,000 makeover? As I get nearer to 40 I’m finding a few more wrinkles than I once had. The makeover includes a consultation and Artefill treatment from a leading physician, along with other aesthetic treatments and products. After you’ve beautified your face and look years younger, you’ll have your hair styled and make-up professionally done, plus a wardrobe styling for your very own professional photo shoot.

The makeover contest is easy to enter, there is no purchase necessary. The contest is running now until12:00 AM EST on July 31, 2008. Entering the contest is easy. All you need to do is write a personal story of 500 words or less about a current or upcoming life event like marriage, divorce, parenthood, career change, etc. Putting it all into written words really makes you think about where you’re going and where you’ve been.

Who would’ve thought I would be as bored as I’ve been without my kids at home.  They’ve been gone for an entire week now and I’m really missing them.  They have another week until they’re home.  It’s funny how much my life now revolves around my children.  I do everything with them and don’t really have a desire to go out and do things without them.  I’m not into the bar scene anymore so that’s not really appealing to me, shopping isn’t any fun alone, especially when you don’t really have the money to shop.  I have enjoyed not having to make a big dinner every night and it’s been nice to watch whatever I want on TV, whenever I want. 

A friend of mine is moving this August, she did something different this time to help a little with the headaches that go with moving to a new home.  She ordered moving boxes online and had them sent directly to her house.  All of her boxes will be of the same shape and size and will easy to move, fitting into the moving truck.  She won’t need to rely on used, unsteady and odd-shaped boxes.  Now, if she could order moving help as easy as ordering the boxes, that would be the best help of all! 

I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older and can appreciate things more or what it is but in the last couple of years I’ve been getting into jewelry more and more.  I received a beautiful necklace from my family for mother’s day and it actually came from a real jewelry store!  I found some nice handcrafted jewelry at W.Culpepper, there are some great pieces at great prices.

As some of you may know, I’ve been trying to lose a few pounds.  I haven’t been trying nearly as hard as I should but I guess it’s good that I have lost a couple pounds and haven’t gained anything.  I’ve been tempted to turn to supplements but even after researching and reading lipovox reviews and reviews of other weight-loss aides, I’m still a little leery and will continue to try on my own.

I remember when I was a kid, my brother and I had story books with our name in them.  We were part of the adventure and we thought it was the greatest thing ever.  I came across a site that sells those very books, in my opinion, there’s nothing better than personalized gifts.  I have no idea what ever happened to those books, I really wish that I had them now to show my kids.  I’m definitely going to have to check into getting them each one, they’d love it!
