boo-boo eww

It was a simple little scrape on my hand last week, I wasn’t too concerned since I’m fairly clumsy and get bumps and bruises quite often. Well, it’s been one week today and it shows no signs of healing. It’s actually getting worse. I’d post a picture but you’d get a bit grossed out. Anyway, I was talked into going to the doctor today to have them check it out. I ended up getting a tetanus shot (that hurts!) and a prescription for an antibiotic. I was told to leave the bandage off and now everyone can see it. It wasn’t so bad under the bandage, now it looks like I have some flesh eating disease. I’m getting tired of telling people what happened when they say “Eww, what happened to your hand?” I think I will start telling everyone it’s a flesh eating disease and they had better stay away!

Am I a self-diagnoser?

Well, I know I’m a googler, that’s a fact! I google everything and anything. When I have some sort of ailment, I google it.

After many trips to the beach this summer, I came home really itchy. My face itched, my arms, my hands and my chest. I must’ve been itchy because of the saltwater, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I noticed it after attending a few cookouts as well. A coincidence? No. All in my head? I think not.

Today is the day I decided to google “itchy after sun” and “sun allergy”, after I sat at my daughter’s soccer game for 2 hours in the sun. I came home and couldn’t stop scratching my arms. I found a few articles on Sun Allergy. I decided that’s what I have. Now I have to lather up on the sunscreen, wear long sleeves, hold an umbrella and buy myself a hat.

Then I thought, that’s what my post will be about. I was declaring myself a “self-diagnoser” until I decided to google “diagnoser” to see if it was even a word. I came across this definition at Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Hmm…. interesting.
