Happy birthday to my little man, he’s 7 today!

Thirteen sights from Halloween night
Erin started Middle School this year; she’s a 6th grader, no more little girl. Last night was her first school dance. The Halloween dance lasted 2 hours, probably the longest 2 hours I’ve had to wait through in a long time. Of course, Erin said it flew by. I can’t believe that I actually dropped her off to a school function and I didn’t get to see any of it! She’s growing up so fast and I just have to deal with it I guess.
I picked her up and told her to tell me all the details. She told me that a lot of kids were just standing around but she danced a lot, there also was a slow dance. A slow dance!? I was a little worried to ask her if she danced and with whom. She giggled and named one of her girlfriends, phew! Yes! She’s still my little girl… for a little while anyway.
My birthday was last Thursday and it was very nice. I took Thursday and Friday off from work and didn’t do too much of anything. Hubby went off to work and the kids off to school and I got to do whatever I wanted! I went to the mall and did some window shopping, I’m very good at that since I never want to spend any money!
Mom made me a dinner I requested and brought it over my house, along with a birthday cake. Dad gave me cash so I could go buy whatever I wanted, with one stipulation “You are to spend this on you, not the kids, not the bills”
Sunday my daughter and I went out to SHOP! I have to admit it was really hard to not buy stuff for other people. Erin is such a trooper, she hung out with me all day and did not complain once while I couldn’t make up my mind on anything. On the ride home I said to her “I feel guilty that we’re going home and I didn’t buy anything for you or your brother” She responds with “It’s ok mom, it’s YOUR birthday”.
I think I’ve done enough complaining. I’m leaving work in about 15 minutes and its absolutely gorgeous outside. No soccer practice tonight so I may take a walk with the kids, enjoy the afternoon and bring along my camera in hopes to snap a picture for tomorrow’s Wordless Wednesday.
I’m back at work after having a 4 day weekend. As I sit here sneaking in a post, I’m thinking I could’ve used just one more day.
Friday I sent the kiddos off to school and then I sat and watched tv for a couple hours, cleaned the house and got my hair cut.
Saturday my daughter had the Soccer Jamboree. We sat in the sun all day, it was hot! They didn’t win any of their 3 games, of course.
Sunday was girl’s night. My daughter had 4 friends over for a sleepover. We did nails, hair and make-up. We played games and they danced like fools.
Monday was a sit around and do a lot of nothing day. I had my nieces all day, we played a few games and took a long drive.
It was a picture perfect day.
Adam’s two front teeth couldn’t fall out fast enough for him. He was so anxious to leave them under his pillow to await a visit from the tooth fairy.
The first tooth came out, he placed it under his pillow and went to bed without any hesitation. The next morning, I woke him for school as I always do, and he immediately slipped his hand under his pillow and pulled out $2.00. His remark was “That’s it?!?”
Now, he’s six, what six year old complains about $2.00? I used to get a quarter, maybe two! I asked him, “What did you expect?” He responds “Five dollars!” I know all about inflation and the cost of living going up each year but five dollars a tooth?
This coming from a kid that used to think that if you had two pennies it was more money than one quarter!
