I took the kids to Gillette Castle this past weekend. It was the home of William Gillette, a playwright, director and actor probably best known for his role as Sherlock Holmes on stage.
We had a great day. It was wonderful weather, perfect day for a drive. Before we arrived at the castle, we stopped at the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse.

Are you ready for school? Some people have already started, my kids’ first day is tomorrow. My daughter is excited. My son, not so much. I’m definitely not looking forward to it. The arguments over bedtime and homework, the rushed mornings. Every year we have good intentions on being organized, the first week or so is usually great but then it’s all downhill from there.
The toughest thing is going to be getting the bus in the morning. My son is now in a different school with a different bus schedule. This year the bus will arrive 45 minutes earlier than last year. Ugh!

A friend of mine is shopping for a new TV and she’s thinking about going with a Plasma. She was informed that a Plasma TV or an LCD TV would most likely require a tv lift. I looked at tv lifts and could not get over how much they cost. It’s just about the same price as a small LCD TV. So, before you get excited about a TV on sale, think about the cost of installation.

Funny little incident at a party I went to last weekend. A few friends and I were at a friend’s house for a cookout. We were looking for something in the kitchen drawers, I forget what it was, probably a utensil of some sort. We came across a brochure for popular diet pills that are on the market now. We found it odd because the friend is a single man living alone who is not overweight. Hmm.

Fall soccer started this week so we’re back to our busy schedule. Tonight will be my 4th night in a row for practice. Two kids at two different parks can be exhausting. Now I need to plan my after work time around practices, easy and quick dinners, make sure their soccer gear is all clean and ready to go on a daily basis. I don’t really mind at all since I absolutely love going to their games and cheering them on.
