The All-Telling Clothesline

One doesn’t realize how big they really are until they hang their pants on a clothesline.

The old days

I visited my grandmother a few weeks ago to sort through some old photos and came home with a whole bunch of them!  I absolutely love old photos and if they’re of my family, they’re even better!  I thought I would share my grandparents’ high school photos today.

My grandfather passed away 10 years ago, my grandmother is going strong at 82.

Traveling this summer?

I don’t do much traveling, oddly enough I don’t really have an interest in it.  We are planning an end of summer vacation, just don’t know where we’re going to go.  Any ideas?  At the top of our list right now is Williamsburg, I think the kids will enjoy that. I do like to get away from it all but it’s usually just a drive away so I don’t have any need for travel health insurance just yet.

$25.00 for that?!?

Last week I went out and purchased some scar cream for me and my daughter.  I couldn’t believe how expensive some skin care products can be.  A little teeny weeny tube of cream was $25.00!!  I really hope I didn’t waste my money and that it will really fade and protect the scar on my neck and the many little mosquito bite scars on Erin’s arm.  Only time will tell.

It’s here! It’s here!

Finally!  The warm weather has arrived!  It was just a tad warmer than I would’ve liked this past weekend but beggars can’t be choosers, right?

We took the family out Saturday night to a wonderful dinner.  On Sunday, we went out to do a little geocaching with my niece who has never been and then we spent the rest of the day shopping for odds and ends while my husband stayed home and did all the yard work!  Now that’s what I call a great day!

Easter this year…

We held our Easter dinner at my grandmother’s house this year.  It’s a bit unusual for us since we don’t normally have a big to-do at Easter but my grandmother had ulterior motives, which we knew about beforehand.

About 12 years ago, my grandparents sold their house and converted 2 apartments into one in one of their apartment houses they own and moved into it.  In 1999 I lost my grandfather to mesothelioma so my grandmother has been alone ever since.  These days she barely uses the extra rooms and could use the extra income of another apartment, so we were all there to help her take out all the furniture from the side of the house that she wants to convert back into an apartment.  It’s a lot of work but it makes sense and of course, I’ll do anything for my grandmother.

Tired of all the write-offs!

I do the billing for our law firm so I see what people get billed, who pays and who doesn’t.  In January we had to let an employee go, 2 personal days were taken away from us and a wage freeze was put into effect.  Thank goodness I got a pretty good raise in October.

So, we eventually write-off the fees of the clients that simply ignore their bills from us.  It irritates me to no end!  One big problem is we don’t accept credit cards.  I think if we signed on with Total Merchant Services to accept credit/debit cards we’d see a huge difference.  So many people ask if we accept them, I wish I could say yes but alas it is not my decision.

Geocaching continues….

We’re very excited in our house.  So far we’ve found 22 caches, gaining a little more experience each time we venture out.  Now we’re planning a weekend away for a geocaching event!  We can’t wait!  It’s been a long time since the whole family has been able to go away for a weekend, it should be lots of fun!  More details to follow…
